Kalbarri is a small coastal township located at the mouth of the Murchison River known for its fishing and many interesting tourist activities. It is about 160kms north of Geraldton and was officially gazetted as a town in 1951. The first Anglican service was held on 26th November, 1961 in the old grey Street hall., while the first resident minister was appointed in 1984. St Mark’s is one of the church buildings and rectories that were funded through the efforts of the Outback Church Foundation and it was opened on Sunday 9th February, 1992. The church also operates a ‘New Life Op Shop’ dealing in second-hand clothing and other household items.
Kalbarri Anglican Church is a community of ordinary people that follow the extraordinary Jesus. Our Christian community has people from different stages of life, cultural backgrounds and with different interests and passions. However, we are united together by the profound truth that God is real; he loves us and you can know that love in Jesus.
WHEN DO OUR CONGREGATIONs MEET?
9.00am: We meet each week at St Mark’s. As a church we are committed to the Bible and so our times of meeting together have teaching the Bible at their centre. The services alternate between the Lord’s Supper and Morning Prayer with a mix of hymns and contemporary music. Children (PP-Yr6) will go out to Sunday Club during the service. After the service we meet in the Church Hall for fellowship and morning tea.
5.00pm: On Sunday evenings we gather for a less formal service with a family-friendly feel. Some come early at 4.30pm for cappuccinos and afternoon tea, before the service proper. At our contemporary evening service we sing, pray, read the Bible and hear it explained in a practical way. Children (PP-Yr6) will go out to Sunday Club during the service. After the service, you are welcome to stay for a “bring and share” dinner.
